08. Detoxing

(Contrast Dye, Vaccines or Other Poisons Injected Into your Bloodstream)

Having MS means that you have a strict schedule of testing that you have to follow each year. I complete a set of bloodwork every 3 months that includes checking my lymphocytes (white blood cell count), vitamin d3, and JC virus antibody index. Additionally, I have to have an MRI every 6 months or so to see if I have any new disease activity. New disease activity would mean new lesions on my brain and spine. In connection with the MRI, we check my liver and kidneys to make sure that I can withstand the contrast dye being injected into my bloodstream during my MRI. The contrast dye is given so that the radiologist and neurologist can see whether I have new lesions more clearly and around what time they arose.

Unfortunately, contrast dye is very toxic. I am given Gadolinium, which is considered one of the better contrast dyes, but it is still a heavy metal. And this heavy metal can create toxicity in your system pretty quickly. So, the idea is to detox and get the dye out of your system ASAP. Literally ASAP. And this regimen works for most poisons you are trying to get out of your system, such as the dyes or heavy metals in vaccines.

It is important to start the regimen ahead of time, so that your body is basically already prepared for the fight of getting this toxin out (i.e. it’s already with the program). If you wait to do this after the contrast is given, your body will for sure have absorbed or reabsorbed some of the toxins, and thus, you have already set yourself up for a loss.

Lemon Water

First, you should drink a ton of water with lemon a couple days leading up to the MRI, the day of the MRI, and a few days after the MRI.  Lemons help you absorb the water more quickly, so the lemons are essential. All of this water that is set to be absorbed at greater percentages will make it so that you can flush the dye out of your system much more quickly, which is the ideal scenario.

Chlorella

Second, you should take chlorella a few days before the MRI a couple days leading up to the MRI, the day of the MRI, and a few days after the MRI. Chlorella literally binds to the dye, which is considered a neurotoxin and heavy metal and stops your body from absorbing the toxin further. It then flushes the toxin out of your system with the help of the water and buffered c powder described below.

I recommend the following brand: Green Foods Organic Chlorella.

Charcoal

Third, you should take activated charcoal a few days before the MRI a couple days leading up to the MRI, the day of the MRI, and a few days after the MRI. Activated charcoal is great at removing heavy metals from your body and activated charcoal binds to the heavy metal in your upper digestive track and it stops your gut from absorbing the toxin. As I have previously noted in another post, your gut health is so so important, so stopping the toxins from going into your gut is critical.

I recommend the following brand: Nature’s Way Activated Charcoal.

Buffered C Powder

Last, but not least, you should mix buffered c powder into your water. This one you should start right after your MRI and then for a few days after until your bowel movement is basically or almost all water. You will thank me that you only have to start this one on the day of the MRI, because the buffered c powder is not tasty. It is chalky and either gives me the chills or makes me want to barf as I drink it, but it’s helpful in flushing out all of the toxins that your chlorella and charcoal bound themselves too. Also, once you have this water bowel movement, you know all of the toxins are out and you have won against the dye or whatever toxin you had in your system.

P.S. The water bowel movement can happen spur the moment when you may not be expecting it, so I recommend staying home or close to a bathroom while detoxing! Trust me!

I recommend the following brand: Thorne Buffered C Powder.

Note:

Also, a few days before your MRI and a few days after your MRI, you should avoid drinking alcohol and coffee or intaking other things that are dehydrating. The whole point of the above is to make it so your system is a binding and flushing machine, so you don’t want to do things, like drink alcohol or coffee, that will inhibit this goal. Also, you don’t want to make your body work harder than it has to because it has to then get some other toxin out at the same time.

Always,

Taylor
