My sister, Allie, has always been interested in finding less toxic and healthier products to use and consume—whether that be facewash, makeup, detergent or food generally, and after I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (ms) in March 2018, she became even more motivated to find better products to use and consume. It is unclear what caused my ms, but it is not something you can easily get rid of or cure with time or medications. Some scientists believe that the disease is triggered by some sort of unidentified environmental factor that mixes with a person who is genetically predisposed to respond to the environmental factor and ms results. This does not seem entirely unlikely since we are exposed to so many different toxins throughout the day just by walking outside or even sitting at home that can affect us negatively. So, in combination with my sister’s desire to live more cleanly and my being diagnosed with ms, we thought why not try to find more natural, high quality everyday products that actually perform well and swap them out for the current products we all know so well. In that way, maybe we can all become a little more well preserved and learn how to better cope with whatever is currently affecting us.
